However, applying gel nails can be daunting task but it is easier than it seems. Once you try gel nails, there is no coming back as you will instantly fall in love with it. Gel nails will last long for more than 2 weeks without chipping. You only need some necessary products given below:
Step 1
First step in gel nails manicure requires a clean palette. Use the nail filer to get a desired shape and smoothen the edges. Clean any dirt or polish from previous manicure with nail surface cleanser or lint-free wipes. Push the cuticle back gently with the help of orangewood stick without damaging it.
Step 2
The process of application starts with applying base coat to the nails. With even strokes paint the whole nail from edge to tip. Leave a margin of 1-2mm from product to the surrounding skin. This first layer needs to be cured for proper drying. Use a UV nail lamp for the process of drying. The time it takes can differ depending upon the lamp. It usually takes 30 seconds for curing.
Step 3
Gel nail polish offers you plenty of colours options and manicures styles. Choose the colour and apply the nail polish following the same step. Leave a margin of 1-2mm again from the nail bed. The coloured nail bed should be cured under the UV nail lamp. The time limit should be followed from the guidelines mentioned on the lamp.
Step 4
The second layer of the gel nail polish should be applied leaving the same established margins. These margins will be helpful in securing the manicure after final coat. Therefore, it is important to maintain the boundaries. Again the curing period depends upon the manufacturer of lamp. Follow that time period in order to get a durable manicure.
Step 5
The final step is the gel top coat. This coat covers the entire nail bed to lock the colour in between the base and top coat. The gel nail polish should not come in the contact with the skin as it jeopardises the seal of the manicure. It results in a faulty application. The process of curing has to be done according to the time prescribed in the UV lamp. After curing the surface is usually sticky and should be wiped with lint-free alcohol nail wipes to get a perfect finish. Lastly use the cuticle oil to moisturise and hydrate your cuticles. It will extend the life of your manicure.
